After scooping you up from the airport, we’ll head straight to the famous Blue Lagoon, where you’ll spend the afternoon relaxing your travel woes away. After that, we’ll have our first ‘Intro to Travel Photography’ workshop with Claire. If there’s time, we’ll watch the sunset over the water at the Grotta Island Lighthouse before dinner.
We can’t bring you to Iceland without checking out some of the famous Golden Circle sights. First up is Gullfoss, one of the most stunning waterfalls in Iceland. From there, we’ll visit Geysir, before taking a dip in the Laugarvatn Fontana nature baths. Later that day, we’ll take the ferry or drive to Heimaey Island.
Today we’ll explore Heimaey Island, a place most visitors don’t see. We’ll view some baby Puffins, hike to the top of a volcano, and eat dinner at Slippurinn, a delicious and authentic meal you won’t forget. Later in the evening, you’ll have an Adobe Lightroom workshop with Claire, so you can start processing your photos thus far.
Today we’re traveling to Vik, chasing waterfalls along the way. We’ll visit the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach and Dyrholaey arch and see Skogafoss, another stunning waterfall. If you’re interested in hiking, there’s an optional hike to Thórsmörk canyon (out of Skogar, near Vik). It’s a long 8-10 hour hike, which leaves at 10am from Skogar, but well worth the views. If hiking isn’t your thing, no worries! Some of us will visit Seljavallalaug, a nature bath with stunning views. It is likely we will be camping tonight, which means you’ll get to experience Iceland in a more authentic way.
Today we’ll drive from Vik to Jokulsarlon, a stunning drive along the coast to a glacial lagoon. Along the way we’ll see lava fields, and if there’s time, we’ll take a guided hike on the Vatnajokul Glacier from Skaftafell. Tonight we will stay in Skaftafell.
We’re returning to Reykjavik today, and depending on timing, we’ll walk around the city for some shopping (hello, cute Icelandic sweaters!). We’ll have one final group photo sharing session before departing for the airport for flights. We’ll be sad to see you go, but you’ll be leaving with an army of new awesome friends and some great photos, to boot.
