Each of us have our own creative process. Whether applied to client strategies, product design, or brand management, we all rely on a process of innovation to bring our ideas to fruition.
But what happens when we get stuck? What happens when our process and our perspective need to change in order to bring us to new ideas?
As an artist, it is my business to constantly generate new ideas, and by carefully diversifying both my process and collaborators, I am able to build a sustainable creative network regardless of how inspired I might be feeling at any given moment.
In our “Art Innovation Workshop,” I’ll lead you through the creation process of an artist as it applies to the specifics of your own work, and together we’ll explore the new opportunities made possible by employing sustainable methods of innovation.
Day 1: Creativity + Cocktails
After you’ve dropped off your bags, start your immersion into the artistic life of New Orleans with eating and drinking well! Over dinner we’ll look toward the weekend ahead before setting of on an evening neighborhood walking tour followed by drinks at a classic local bar and live music on Frenchmen Street!
Day 2: Spark + Spray Paint
After breakfast, we’ll dive into the first stage of our workshop, focusing on the artistic process from idea conception and featuring techniques used by artists in fields ranging from filmmaking to immersive live performance. Next we’ll journey downriver to the Music Box Village, an interactive, musical village and performance venue, for a tour and talk about how the Music Box engages and produces with a diverse array of local and international artists.
We’ll stop for a quick lunch in the Marigny before our tour of Studio Be, an incredible 35,000 sq ft warehouse turned art exhibit created by local artist, Brandan “B-mike” Odums. Later, we’ll gather for a custom tasting menu at one of New Orleans’ most exciting restaurants.
Day 3: Process + Parting
Before you depart, we’ll gather over coffee for our final workshop to learn about how to take the leap from idea creation to project production. Reflect on your new relationship with the Crescent City and its diverse creators of which you are now a part, as you leave with a deep knowledge of the creative process and its use in your work to come.
