Day 2: Anchorage to Girdwood

Grab breakfast at the hotel (at your own expense, different options available), and we’ll hit the road!

Our first stop in Anchorage is to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. On our private tour, you will stroll through six authentic life-sized Native dwellings situated in a wooded area around beautiful Lake Tiulana. You will learn about the traditional lifeways of Alaska’s diverse Native cultures from one of our Culture Bearers.

After, we’ll head to 49th State Brewing Company for lunch on their rooftop. Get ready for great food and great views!

After lunch, we will make our way to Girdwood, one of the “10 Most Beautiful Towns in Alaska.” Our 45 minute drive is a scenic one, and will include a photo and wildlife viewing stop at Birdcreek.

Today, we’ll do something totally EPIC: Take a helicopter ride, to the top of a glacier. And then dogsled while up there. (Talk about bucketlist!) It’s going to be absolutely amazing, and you’ll have memories to last a lifetime!

Dinner at the resort.

Day 3: Girdwood

Today is all about relaxing, in style! After breakfast on your own, we’re heading to the spa!

Every woman deserves a little pampering, so, upon arrival at the spa each woman in our group will receive a gift bag full of goodies and have access to a 60-minute forest therapy massage, as well as access to hydrotherapy services.

Set within the jaw-dropping scenery of the Chugach mountains on the grounds of Alyeska Resort, Alaska’s newest nordic spa awaits. This unique spa experience invites you to enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy as you take some time to disconnect- to reconnect. Move between hot and cold pools surrounded by the stunning northernmost rainforest. Rest in saunas and steam rooms,  and complete your experience at the exfoliation cabin.

Lunch today is served via share boards at the spa.

Later today, around 5 pm, we will take a three to seven-minute scenic ride from Alyeska Resort to the top of Mt. Alyeska. At an elevation of 2300 feet, witness frosty views of the Turnagain Arm, up to seven “hanging” glaciers and endless peaks deep into the Chugach Mountain range. Dinner tonight is at the locally owned and operated restaurant Spoonline Bistro.

Created by Chef Alexandra Fletcher, her business started as a catering company before quickly becoming a local favorite. Spoonline Bistro specializes in healthy, creative dishes with an emphasis on Paleo and gluten free cooking. Using only cold pressed oils in the preparation of their food and whenever possible they use locally sourced and organic or GMO free products.

After dinner, return to the hotel.

Day 4: Seward

Today after breakfast on your own, we’re leaving beautiful Girdwood for Seward.

A breathtaking land shaped by glaciers, Seward is nestled between mountains and the ocean. Adventurous travelers journey to Seward to hike stunning trails, experience abundant wildlife, paddle and fish vibrant waters, and to explore our historic community. This is the ancestral homeland of the Alutiiq, or Sugpiaq, people, who have called the rocky coasts and glacial bays home since time immemorial.

On our way to Seward (a 1.5 hour drive), we’ll have a private tour at The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. AWCC is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research, and quality animal care. The Center maintains over 200 acres of spacious habitats for animals to feel at home. You may see brown bears cooling off in the water, a bull moose strutting, wood bison roaming on pastures and more. Enjoy a tour where your personal guide walks you through the Center, offering history and stories of resident wildlife – and you’ll get to feed an animal!

Return to the hotel for relaxation.

Tonight we’ll visit the fabulous Flamingo Lounge in downtown Seward for a fun shopping opportunity before dinner together.

Meals: D

Hotel: Seward Windsong Lodge

Day 5: Transfer to Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge

Today we’re transferring to stunning Fox Island.

Fox Island is close to Seward, but it’s a world away from the ordinary. The waters surrounding it are a rich blue green color, reflecting the weather and lapping upon the shore. Marine wildlife is abundant near Fox Island. Guests cruising to or from the island commonly see Steller sea lions, otters, whales, Dall’s porpoise, and an endless variety of seabirds that include eagles, puffins, cormorants, and murres.

Due to its remote location, Fox Island relies on renewable energy sources to power the facilities, making it the ideal place to unplug and reconnect with nature.

Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is the only accommodation on remote Fox Island. The lodge consists of eight guest cabins situated on a narrow peninsula of land just south of Kenai Fjords Tours’ Day Lodge.

Relax and enjoy some downtime after arriving. Or, choose to enjoy marine life viewing, or visit the property’s wood barrel sauna.

Day 6: Fox Island

Today, enjoy all that this gorgeous piece of paradise has to offer us.

After breakfast, enjoy some downtime, because today is all about kayaking. We’ve chosen a morning kayak trip together, because morning is when the water is the most calm, and the wildlife is the most active.

On your guided kayaking trip today, look for puffins, sea lions and seals as you explore the rocky coves of Fox Island. You can even sometimes spot whales!

After kayaking, the day is yours!

Other activities on offer include: paddling the lake in a paddle boat, or hitting the sauna to relax.

Meals: B, L, D

Hotel: Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge

Day 7: Return to Anchorage by Train

After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to our gorgeous lodge, and make our way back to Anchorage, departing at 9:30 a.m.

As we depart, we’ll travel via the Northwestern Fjord Tour, which visits three tidewater glaciers and is home to a plethora of wildlife, before returning to Seward.

We’ll arrive to Seward at 4 p.m., which gives us roughly 2 hours of downtime to shop around before our train departs for Anchorage.

Tonight we’re riding the Alaska Railroad Goldstar Service, with our farewell dinner set on the train in a stunning location. Because this isn’t your average Amtrak – we’re riding the Goldstar Dome, which offers a dome window with unimpeded 360-degree views. All seats face forward and, most importantly, all seats have a great view. GoldStar cars are private, meaning that only passengers with ticketed seats can access the upper dome area. While underway, each GoldStar dome car has a dedicated host who provides narration throughout the route.

Dinner tonight is in the GoldStar Dining Room.

Tonight we’re arriving to Anchorage at roughly 10 p.m.
