Day 2: Horseback Riding + Writing Workshops

After making breakfast in our gorgeous mansion, we’ll leave with our journals in hand. On our way to our horseback riding experience in the Rocky Mountains, we’ll stop at Chautaqua Park in Denver, where we’ll have a writing prompt and share a picnic lunch.

We’ll continue on to go horseback riding, which will last roughly 90 minutes. Afterwards, we’ll take a visit to the iconic hotel from The Shining, where we can share a cocktail on the deck.

From here, we’ll drive back to Denver. Options for dinner tonight will be presented.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch

Day 3: Rafting + Writing

This morning after breakfast, we’ll travel as a group to go whitewater rafting. The experience will last roughly 2 hours and is thrilling enough to get your blood pumping, but not so scary that you should be afraid.  We’ll have lunch together in a nearby town, where you’ll be able to choose from a variety of options.

Afterwards, we’ll return home to shower and change.

We’ll have one last writing session, before heading off to our farewell dinner as a group.

For this workshop, we will rent a private home. Each participant will have their own room. We choose to stay privately because we need space to write, to create and to share — these things do not lend themselves well to hotels.

Flying Where do I fly into?

You’ll fly into Denver International Airport (DEN).

Writing experience Do I need writing experience?

No, but you need to be comfortable writing from various prompts, and sharing with the group.

Some prompts may encourage you to go deeper, and you’ll find the best energy when you allow yourself to share openly and be vulnerable.

Every participant in this workshop comes from a different background with different experience, and all are welcome.

I had an amazing experience in Denver as part of the Riding and Writing 2018 group! From the very beginning, and because of our small group, I knew the trip would be vastly different from any other travel experience. Small things like donuts in the park and sharing a laugh while eating ice cream – we did a lot of eating! But more than that, we got honest and real, and for me as an introvert, this is always a challenge.

Our writing guide Lindsay helped us think critically when it came to our goals about our writing and she made no judgements about where we were on our journey – even if we hadn’t started. In a season of my life when I needed to just be, this trip gave me time and space to do that. I was fully present and I’ll never forget the experience. I would highly recommend traveling with Kelly!
